June 2017 - ADIFO Global Market Review

by Kevin Burrows

European equity markets struggled in June, with the FTSE Eurotop and German DAX losing –2.7% and –2.3%, respectively, on nervousness around ECB monetary policy. Global fixed income returns were mostly negative in June, with local currency emerg-ing markets bonds and investment grade credit bucking the trend. Commodities were a mixed bag in June with selloffs in gold and crude oil offset by gains in copper and agriculture. The US dollar continued to fall over the month and is down against all major curren-cies in 2017, most prominently against the Euro where it has declined –8.6% during the first half of the year.
